The reported political gathering in Fairview Park scheduled for Thursday, September 17, 2020, is not approved by Palmer Township.

The Township reviewed the request in accordance with the Palmer Township Parks and Recreation Rules, Regulations, and Policies, and in light of the most recent statewide orders issued by Governor Tom Wolf targeting statewide mitigation efforts in response to the recent rise in COVID-19 cases throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Palmer Township’s goal is to provide its citizens with a safe environment for activities within their public parks. Upon review of this request, based on the recent promotional efforts for the event from the applicant, and the generated publicity in the news and social media, it is anticipated that the planned event will result in a gathering of more than 250 persons which is in violation of the ORDER OF THE GOVERNOR OF THE COMMONWEALTH OF PENNSYLVANIA DIRECTING TARGETED MITIGATION MEASURES issued on July 16, 2020 prohibiting gatherings of this size.

Therefore, in the interests of public health safety and the requirement of compliance with the Governor’s order referred to above, as well as the inability of the Palmer Township to allocate public resources to monitor and ensure compliance with the current public health safety mandates for the proposed event to be scheduled for Thursday 9/17/20 at Fairview Park, the Township has denied the request for permission to hold the event. It is our pleasure to welcome you to the 2020 Palmer Pool season! We will be opening on Friday, June 26 from 11 am to 8pm to kick off the season. As most of you know, Palmer Pool will be limited to Palmer Residents with memberships only this summer. There will be no day passes sold at any time. There will also be no swim lessons or pool party rentals. please review them before coming to the pool for the first time this season. Please see below our 2020 operational guidelines. Please review them before coming to the pool for the first time this season. It is not a complete list but a guideline to help create the safest possible atmosphere at the Palmer Pool for the summer of 2020A couple of points:

1- We have a new Pool Manager this season. Her name is Shannon Hogan and she is going to be a tremendous asset to the Palmer Pool. Please welcome her when you get to meet her.
2- As we all know, we are in uncharted waters for this pool season. We are asking for everyone’s patience as we all try and navigate this summer as best we can. Our pool staff has put in a lot of work to make the pool as safe as possible for this challenging summer.
3- We know everyone is anxious to get to the pool. However, please do not show up at 11 am on Opening Day if you can wait an hour or two. We will be practicing safe social distancing at the entrance ( and everywhere we can). A large crowd at opening will only lead to people being asked to wait in the parking lot.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to email Shannon at pool@palmertwp.com . It will take everyone’s cooperation to have a great pool season. We will see you at the pool!
